Agriculture internet of things
Our affordable solutions used in IOT Vineyard starter kit consists of a gateway units that connect to 4 solar-powered sensor devices to collect temperature, humidity, ambient light and soil moisture, which are placed throughout each vineyard. Part of the deployment is to assess the best placement of the remote, as this will help vineyards in future industry applications of the technology.
The remote sensor devices are designed to measure a variety of environmental factors, including:
Humidity, temperature, soil humidity, temperature, solar intensity
The deployment shows how the data collected from the vineyards can be utilized in order to perform forcasting. The benefits of this include:
Optimized Vineyard management
Forecasting the optimum time for harvest of grapes can significantly improve quality and minimize risks for the grapes. Subsequently the yield of the wine is increased. The analysis performed the Vineyard helps staff to plan the allocation of resources and specify the precise necessary actions in advance.
Improved red wine quality
The remote sensor data collected from the vineyard allows the farmer to assess conditions in order to define the optimal time and location for fertigation, irrigation and use of fungicides.
Remote diagnostics for the vineyard
The IOT vineyard owner has real-time access to their data anytime and anywhere through the Ripples IOT app using the mobile network.
The ability to predict how and when to use resources enables the producers to minimize impact on the environment.
